The Ministry of Digitalization has announced the selected teams for its first citizen technology pilot project.

In order to promote digital citizen collaboration in Taiwan and foster a sustainable cooperation model between government departments and citizen technology teams, the Ministry of Digital Development launched the "112th Ministry of Digital Development Citizen Technology Experimental Field Demonstration Case" this year, and ultimately selected two outstanding teams, namely the "Safe Walking Wish Account - Co-constructing a Pedestrian-Friendly Space Social Communication Platform" and the "Cheer Together Front - Optimizing the Digital Process of Public Childcare Applications". Application matching and implementation guidance will be launched subsequently, and the demonstration case is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The Ministry of Digitalization announced that its inaugural Civic Tech Pilot Zone demonstration projects this year focused on three key themes: "People-Oriented Transportation Improvement," "Net Zero Emission Applications," and "Health and Social Welfare Services." The project sought collaboration from civic tech teams with demonstrated social impact and aligned with digital social innovation. The Ministry of Digitalization and an external expert review panel completed the review process on July 25th, ultimately selecting two outstanding teams.

The Ministry of Digitalization explained that the "Walk Safely Wish Account - Co-building a Pedestrian-Friendly Space Social Communication Platform" focuses on pedestrian safety. The proposal aims to enhance two-way communication between government agencies and citizens through a crowd-annotation platform and a geographic analysis platform. The project's effectiveness and technical feasibility were recognized. The "Let's Cheer Together - Optimizing the Digital Process for Public Daycare Applications" initiative, which falls under the health and social welfare services category, proposes streamlining the application and acceptance process by developing a digital platform. The proposal received favorable reviews for its ability to reduce costs and burdens for caregivers and childcare facilities.

The Ministry of Digitalization stated that this is the first time it has launched a civic technology pilot site. The Ministry of Digitalization thanked all proposal teams for their participation and the wonderful proposal discussions. The Ministry hopes that through these demonstrations, it will encourage the public to use civic technology to participate in government administration and services, allowing the public and the government to work hand in hand to gradually build an innovative mechanism that combines technological development, democratic spirit, and social values, and create a win-win people-public-private partnership.

The Ministry of Digitalization stated that the results of the call for proposals and related information can be found on the Ministry's official website ( https://moda.gov.tw/press/bulletin/6125 ) or by contacting the Taipei Computer Business Association ( modact.tca@gmail.com ). The Ministry of Digitalization will match the selected teams with relevant local government agencies to discuss possible collaboration plans based on their proposals.
