I’m not convinced by the `will-change` CSS property. Browsers—not developers—should work on figuring out how/when elements will animate.

They still do, this just provides a way of giving some help to the (sometimes dumb) optimization routines.

will-change is specifically for the times when browsers *can't* guess in time. JS can do anything at any time!

I understand your point of view, maybe to include will-change will speed up the need to implement improvements in the HA. +1 for w-c

I'm sure they are but this is a very hard problem. In the mean time I'm happy to use something better than translateZ to inform intent
