Energy is a resource designed to limit how much a champion is able to use their basic abilities during a set time frame rather than through the use of 
mana. It is represented by a yellow bar instead of blue.

Because energy regenerates much faster than mana, energy champions can recuperate their resource pool without needing to 
Recall. However, due to the maximum amount of energy being capped at a low amount with no growth per level, in addition to the rate that energy is regenerated not increasing either, repeated usages of their ability combos can leave them fully depleted of energy in an important situation, rendering them unable to cast spells for a considerable duration. All energy champions have at least one method to regenerate energy through their abilities; the amount of energy restored and whether this method is readily repeatable vary from champion to champion. Aside from 
Akali's 
Twilight Shroud, all energy restoration methods require that a particular condition is satisfied. Additionally, the energy costs for many abilities decrease as they are leveled up, and there is no cost on an energy user's ultimate ability.

Akali is the only champion that can increase her maximum energy by using Twilight Shroud. The only ways that energy restoration can be increased is with

Mana
Mana (also known as MP) is a stat that is the resource of many champions necessary to cast most of their abilities. Mana can be restored via mana regeneration and some abilities, items, runes, and buffs.
Mana is represented in-game by the blue bar within the HUD, indicating the champion's current mana and maximum mana. Current mana is reduced by expenditure through paying an ability's mana cost.
