마녀가 되어 강렬한 모습을 보여줬던 걸그룹 퍼플키스(PURPLE KISS)가 상큼한 요정이 되어 돌아왔다.
The girl group PURPLE KISS, who previously showed off their powerful image as witches, has returned as fresh fairies.

퍼플키스는(나고은, 도시, 이레, 유키, 채인, 수안)는 16일 두 번째 싱글 'I Miss My...'를 발매한다. 앨범 발매를 앞둔 14일 서울 광진구 RBW 사옥에서 만난 퍼플키스는 신곡과 새로운 콘셉트에 대한 다양한 이야기를 전했다.
Purple Kiss (Na Goeun, Dosie, Ireh, Yuki, Chaein, Swan) will release their second single 'I Miss My...' on the 16th. Ahead of the album release, Purple Kiss met at RBW headquarters in Seoul's Gwangjin District on the 14th, sharing various stories about the new song and the fresh concept.

이번 컴백은 지난 미니 7집 'HEADWAY' 이후 약 9개월 만의 신보다. 짧지 않은 공백기를 가졌던 만큼, 멤버들은 더 공을 들여 준비했다고 설명했다.
This comeback is their first new album in about 9 months since their last mini-album 'HEADWAY'. Explaining that they prepared more thoroughly due to the relatively long break, the members said,

"9개월이라는 공백기를 가지고 나오는 앨범이에요. 그만큼 열심히 준비했고, 처음 보는 아련하고 몽환적인 콘셉트, 예쁜 비주얼로 돌아왔으니 기대해주셨으면 좋겠어요."(수안)
"'This album comes after a 9-month break. We prepared hard, and we've returned with a new, nostalgic and dreamy concept and beautiful visuals. We would love for everyone to look forward to it'" (Swan).

"공백기 끝에 좋은 노래로 돌아왔어요. 팬분들이 행복해지실 수 있는 앨범인 만큼 이번 여름 저희 노래로 행복해지셨으면 좋겠어요."(채인)
"I returned with a good song after the break. Since this album can bring happiness to our fans, I hope our songs bring you joy this summer." (Chaein)

"9개월 만의 컴백인데 무대, 그리고 팬분들이 그리웠어요. 과정도 행복했지만 결과도 행복하게 마무리할 수 있도록 잘해보려고요."(고은)
"This is my comeback after 9 months, and I missed the stage and my fans. Although the process was happy, I want to do well to conclude it happily." (Goeun)

'I Miss My...'는 '행복은 무엇인가'라는 질문에서 출발해 과거에 대한 그리움이나 막연한 어딘가를 헤매던 방황의 시간을 지나 결국 진정한 행복은 지금 이 순간, 나를 둘러싼 감정 속에 존재한다는 메시지를 담았다.
'I Miss My...' starts with the question 'What is happiness?' It takes you through the longing for the past and the time spent wandering aimlessly, ultimately conveying the message that true happiness exists in this very moment, in the emotions surrounding me.

타이틀곡 'DOREMI'(도레미)는 밝고 아련한 느낌의 플럭 사운드와 몽환적인 가사가 어우러진 곡이다. 복잡한 현실 속에서 'DOREMI'라는 주문을 통해 솔직한 감정과 진실한 자아를 마주하며, 찬란히 빛나는 파라다이스 즉, 행복의 본질에 대한 깨달음을 전한다.
The title track 'DOREMI' is a song that combines a bright and bittersweet folk sound with mystical lyrics. It conveys the realization of facing sincere emotions and true self amidst complex reality through the spell 'DOREMI', and the paradise that shines brilliantly, which is the essence of happiness.

"가이드를 들었을 때 밝은 노래라는 느낌이 들었어요. 그런데 주변 분들께 들려드리니 '아련하다'고 하시더라고요. 다른 분들은 그런 감정을 느낄 수도 있겠다는 생각이 들면서 밝으면서도 아련한 느낌을 표현하려고 했어요."(나고은)
"I felt a sense of bright song when I listened to the guide. But when I played it for others, they said it was 'nostalgic.' Thinking that others might feel this way, I tried to express both brightness and nostalgia." (Na Goeun)

"처음 도전해 보는 곡이라 괜찮을까 걱정도 많았어요. 녹음하다 보니 다행히 저희 음색과 잘 어울렸고, 결과물도 좋게 나와서 마음에 들어요."(유키)
"It was my first time trying this song, so I was worried if it would be okay. Fortunately, while recording, it turned out to match our vocal style well, and the result is something I really like." (Yuki)

나고은은 'DOREMI' 작사에 참여하며 완성도를 높였다. 멤버들 역시 나고은의 가사가 곡을 이해하는 데 도움을 줬다며 칭찬을 아끼지 않았다.
Na Goeun participated in writing the lyrics for 'DOREMI,' enhancing its overall quality. The members also praised Na Goeun, saying her lyrics helped them better understand the song.

"저뿐만 아니라 모두에게 기회를 주셨는데 감사하게도 제 가사가 채택됐어요. 처음에 '도레미'가 주문이라고 말씀해 주셔서 행복의 길을 찾아 나서는 퍼플키스를 떠올렸어요. 그래서 가사가 잘 나온 것 같아 뿌듯해요."(나고은)
"I was grateful for being given a chance for everyone, and even happier that my lyrics were chosen. When you first mentioned 'DOREMI' as a spell, it made me think of Purple Kiss embarking on a journey to find happiness. That's why I'm proud of how the lyrics turned out." (Na Goeun)

"처음에 영어 가이드를 들었을 때는 솔직히 와닿지 않았어요. 어떻게 해석할 수 있을까 걱정도 했는데, 고은 언니가 참여한 가사로 완성되고 나니 부를 때 감정이입이 됐어요."(도시)
"Honestly, when I first listened to the English guide, it didn't resonate with me much. I was also worried about how to interpret it, but after the lyrics were completed with Na Goeun participating, it felt more emotional when calling out." (Dosie)

"녹음하고 나서도 가사를 외우는 경우가 많은데, 이번에는 따로 외우지 않아도 가사가 잘 나왔어요."(채인)
"I often sing the lyrics after recording, but this time I didn't need to sing them separately, and the lyrics turned out well." (Chaein)

멤버들의 말처럼 그동안 마녀 콘셉트를 통해 강렬한 모습을 보여줬던 퍼플키스는 신보를 통해 새로운 모습을 보여주게 됐다. 물론, 이미지를 변신하는 과정이 쉽지만은 않았다.
As the members mentioned, Purple Kiss, who has been showing a strong image through the witch concept so far, will now show a new side through the new album. Of course, transforming the image is not an easy process.

"그동안 세고 다크한 콘셉트를 했다 보니, 안무에서 예쁜 손끝을 살려야 하는데 강렬한 손끝 처리가 돼서 처음에는 지적을 많이 받았어요. 그래도 저희만의 아름다운 춤 선을 찾아낸 것 같아서 무대를 통해 확인해 주시면 좋을 것 같아요."(수안)
"Having worked with dark and intense concepts so far, we had to preserve beautiful fingerwork in the choreography, but the strong finger movements initially drew a lot of criticism. However, we think we've found our own beautiful dance line, and we hope you can confirm it on stage." (Swan)

"저도 안무지적을 많이 받은 편인데, 몸에 있는 바운스가 자꾸 나와서 곡의 장르를 바꿔버리더라고요. 기를 쓰고 연습했더니 예쁜 선을 만든 것 같아요. 또 녹음할 때도 포인트를 많이 주려고 했어요. 자칫 심심할 것 같아 연구했는데 그러다 보니 디테일이 많아져서 음이탈이 나올 수 있겠더라고요. 그걸 컨트롤하는 게 신경 쓰였던 것 같아요."(채인)
"I also received a lot of choreographic feedback. My natural bounce kept coming through, changing the genre of the song. After practicing with energy, it seems we've created a beautiful line. I also tried to give more points during recording. I was a bit worried it might get boring, so I researched it, and it ended up becoming more detailed, which could lead to mistakes. Controlling that was something I was particularly focused on." (Chaein)

주문을 거는 것은 똑같지만, 이번에는 좀 더 요정에 가까운 셈이다. 멤버들은 아직은 강렬한 콘셉트가 편하다면서도 새로운 모습도 제법 잘 어울린다며 자신감을 드러냈다.
While the spellcasting is the same, this time it's closer to a fairy. The members, who still find the intense concept comfortable, have expressed confidence that they also suit the new form well.

"확실히 강렬한 게 편한 것 같긴 해요. 미소 짓는게 쉬운 일은 아니더라고요. 광대에 경련이 잘나는 편이라 연습을 열심히 했어요."(도시)
"Indeed, the intense concept is more comfortable. It's not easy to smile. I tend to get muscle cramps when acting, so I practiced hard." (Dosie)

"뭐가 편한지는 모르겠지만, 직캠을 보니 이 콘셉트도 제가 잘 어울리는 것 같더라고요. 그래서 새로운 발견을 한 것 같아요."(유키)
"I'm not sure which is more comfortable, but watching the live shots, I feel like this concept suits me well too. So, it feels like I've made a new discovery." (Yuki)

"저도 강렬한 게 편했지만, 이번 활동을 준비하며 제 안에 잠재되어 있던 감정이 나오더라고요. 발랄한 것도 제 성격에 어울리는 것 같아요."(채인)
"I also preferred the intense ones, but as I prepared for this activity, emotions that had been latent within me came out. It seems like the elegant side also suits my personality." (Chaein)

이 밖에도 상처와 혼란을 추상적으로 표현하면서도 짙은 그리움이 가득한 사운드로 감성을 디자인하며 퍼플키스 서사의 스펙트럼을 완성한 'Lost & Found', 우리는 우리의 길로 더욱 선명히 나아가겠다는 'VVV'등이 수록되어 있다.
In addition, "Lost & Found," which abstractly expresses hurt and confusion while designing emotions with a sound full of deep longing, completes the spectrum of Purple Kiss's narrative, and "VVV," which signifies moving more clearly forward on our own path, are included.

2021년 3월 데뷔한 퍼플키스는 어느덧 데뷔 5년 차에 접어들었다. 지금까지의 활동을 되돌아보며 가장 행복했던 순간에 대해 묻자 멤버들은 특별한 결과물을 얻었을 때가 아니라 무대에 올랐던 순간을 꼽았다.
Purple Kiss, who debuted in March 2021, has now entered its fifth year since debut. When asked about the happiest moments from their past activities, the members chose the moments when they were on stage, not when they achieved special results.

"저희가 3번의 미주투어를 다녀왔는데 솔드아웃된 무대를 설 때마다 행복했어요. 수적으로 팬분들이 많이 와주신 것도 행복했지만, 솔드 아웃됐다고 다들 축하해주는 게 행복했어요."(이레)
"We've been on three U.S Tours, and every time we set up a sold-out stage, we felt happy. It was also happy that many fans came in numbers, but what made us happiest was everyone congratulating us for selling out." (Ire)

"어느덧 5년 차가 됐는데, 그기간 무대에 올라갈 때 저희끼리 모여서 화이팅 구호를 외치거든요. 행복하나는 느낌이 들고 자신감도 충전되는 느낌이에요."(나고은)
"As we've reached our fifth year, whenever we go on stage during that time, we gather and shout encouraging slogans together. It gives us a sense of happiness and boosts our confidence." (Na Goeun)

이렇게 행복했던 기억들을 앞으로도 이어가기 위해서는 이번 활동이 중요하다. 퍼플키스는 이번 활동을 통해 조금 더 대중들에게 다가가고 싶다는 목표를 전하며 이번 활동에 많은 관심을 당부했다.
"To continue these happy memories into the future, this activity is important. Purple Kiss has conveyed their goal of wanting to get closer to the public through this activity, asking for much attention to this event.

"콘셉추얼하고 어떻게 보면 마이너할 수도 있는 음악을 해왔던 팀인데 'DOREMI'는 많은 분들이 접하기에 어렵지 않은 곡이라고 생각해요. 이번 곡을 통해 꼭 퍼플키스가 메이저한 장르와 마이너한 장르 모두를 잘한다는 인식을 줬으면 좋겠어요. 그래서 꼭 차트인을 해보고 싶어요. 수치적인 목표가 아니라면 처음부터 끝까지 행복으로 가득 차고 팬분들도 행복하다고 느낄 수 있는 활동이 됐으면 좋겠어요."
"As a team that has been doing conceptual and perhaps somewhat minor music, we think 'DOREMI' is a song that many people can easily access. Through this song, we hope to give the impression that Purple Kiss is good at both major and minor genres. That's why we really want to hit the charts. It's not about numerical goals, but rather that this activity is filled with happiness from beginning to end, and the fans also feel happy."
